Leaf Ray was in Colorado Springs this past weekend for PIHA opening weekend.
Des Moines Leaf Ray (PIHA Semi-Pro) started the weekend strong with a sweep over the Black Forest Thunder. As the weekend progressed, the fatigue defiantly got to the team as they split the series with Littleton Fire and Aurora Royals. The team was missing a few guys which showed when they dropped both games to the Arizona Coyotes. The team is currently sitting 6th in the Western Conference and 2nd in the Rocky Mountain North Division with a 4-4 record.
Lambs Grove Leaf Ray (PIHA Minors) grew huge over the weekend. On Friday the team struggled against the Pikes Peak Thunder losing both games. Saturday you could see the team starting to come together as they went 4-0 including two big come backs. Monument Thunder was up 3-5 with a minute left in the game but Leaf Ray managed to burry 3 for the 6-5 win. Golden Fire was up 0-5 at half before Leaf Ray scored 7 unanswered goals for the 7-5 win. Sunday the team split against a good Falcon Vikings team. The team is currently 4th in the Western Conference and 1st in the Rocky Mountain East division with a 5-3 record.
Both team will be back in action on 12/7-12/8.
