Labeda Leaf Ray managed to fit two tournaments into its summer schedule. The team was assembled on short notice, and several players had never played together before. The first tournament took place over Memorial Day weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. After dropping its opening game, the team responded with an impressive run, winning four consecutive games to finish the weekend with a 4-1 record and capture the gold medal. Leaf Ray headed to Omaha for Memorial Weekend, with Skate City serving as the venue. The team started slowly, falling behind 0–2 midway through the first half of their opening game against Puck Norris from Kansas City, MO. They began to come together as the game progressed but ultimately ran out of time, losing 2–3. In the next couple of games, the team continued to improve and play with greater cohesion.
