Lambs Grove Leaf Ray plays in the Minors level of PIHA (Professional Inline Hockey Association). This is the inaugural season for this team.
Since we had never had a team at this level, our goal for this team was to win at least 50% of their regular season games and win the first round of the playoffs. This team stepped up and exceeded our goals.
The first weekend the team played 8 games finishing the weekend 5-3-0. The 2nd weekend the team finished 3-2-1. The final weekend the team went 4-1-1 for a season record of 12-6-2 and the 2nd seed in the playoffs.
First series up in the playoffs was against Monument Thunder who Leaf Ray went 2-1-1 against during the season. Game 1 was a tight battle with Leaf Ray pulling away late for a final score of 5-2 and dominated game 2 7-2 to move on to the division championship. Leaf Ray got paired up against the Falcon Vikings. Game 1 went to the Vikings while Leaf Ray rallied back to take game 2 and 3 winning the Rocky Mountain East Division.
That moved the team onto PIHA Finals against the other 5 division winners. Leaf Ray had some tough round robin games including against the undefeated Empire State Legends. Round robin did not go well with an 0-3 records and 6th seed. Matched up in the first round against the Mach 1 Moustache. Leaf Ray led most of the game before a couple of critical late mistakes which cost Leaf Ray 3 goals in the last 4 minutes of the game to take the 2-4 loss.
This off season this team will need to make some minor changes but the changes they already made through out the season was clearly working. You wont see much change and most of the roster is returning. Expect to see this team back at finals next year more prepared for those teams from the other divisions.
